A talk for The Arqus European University Alliance

Dr. Hanna Kędzierska and Dr. Krzysztof Hwaszcz presented a webinar entitled ‘The perception of foreign-accented speech in multilinguals: The influence of grammaticality, extemporaneity and learning setting’. The study was conducted in collaboration with Prof. Magdalena Wrembel and which was financially supported by the National Science Centre (NCN) in Poland and the Norwegian Grants. The study focused on the influence of factors, such as the language acqusition setting of English as L2 and Norwegian as L3 (i.e. formal vs. naturalistic), the grammatical correctness of recorded speech samples and the speaking mode (i.e. read vs. extemporaneous) on the perception of foreign accent and speech comprehensibility.
The Arqus University Alliance brings together the universities of Granada, Graz, Leipzig, Lyon 1, Maynooth, Minho, Padua, Vilnius and Wrocław, nine comprehensive research universities with deep regional involvement in medium-sized cities.

The webinar was recorded and is available online on YouTube here.
